What does an ACSM-EP-C (Exercise Physiologist) do

  • Safe and effective workouts– Keeping you safe while developing an effective fitness program that you can stick to is what I do.

  • Individualized Instruction – When it comes to exercise programs, they must be customized to be effective. The EP designs an effective  program for you based on your fitness evaluation results and personal goals. Beginners in particular benefit from instruction on how to perform specific exercises and program planning.

  • Diversity in Routines - Switching up your workout routine is key to delivering optimum results and stave off boredom.

  • Knowledge – An American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiologist (ACSM EP-C) title means they have acquired the knowledge necessary to teach you how to understand your body better and how to best meet your individual needs. Knowledge is the first step to solving any problem. Minimum requirement for this certification is a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science.

  • Nutrition Plans - Don’t have time to look up recipes?  Not to worry!  An EP can help you with meal plans so that you eat right and don’t starve.

  • Sports-specific Training – Many amateur and professional athletes work with a fitness professional during the off-season to prepare themselves for in-season competition. Whether you want to run your first 5K, run it faster or improve your tennis game, an EP can tailor your program to your sport of choice.

  • Injury Rehabilitation – Injuries and accidents can prevent you from participating in your favorite activities. An experienced fitness professional, however, can make the road to recovery a smooth one by recommending exercises that emphasize overall muscular balance to prevent future injuries.

  • Special-needs Training – Research confirms that individuals with health challenges such as diabetes, asthma, osteoporosis or heart disease benefit greatly from regular physical activity. These conditions, however, can make exercising safely a challenge. An EP is competent  in designing programs that address the special needs of these and other conditions.

  • Motivation – Staying on track is not easy, so having someone there to cheer you along will keep you going.

  • Adherence – Do you find it difficult to stick to your program? Scheduling regular appointments with a EP helps eliminate any excuses you might come up with for not exercising.
